Head Nordic Ski Coach

 

 

Mt. Blue High School is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Head Nordic Ski Coach to lead our successful team for the 2024-25 season. We are a public high school with a strong tradition of nordic excellence and sportsmanship. Our nordic program boasts a deep and consistent history of team and individual state championships and is known for fostering a positive and supportive team environment. The program is based at Titcomb Mountain, with 16 km of expertly groomed nordic trails, shared waxing facilities and a strong nordic community, located 3 miles from the high school campus. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for high school athletes of varying skill levels.

  • Lead on-snow and dryland training sessions throughout the season.

  • Prepare and maintain competition skis based on snow conditions.

  • Travel with the team to competitions and manage logistical arrangements with race venues.

  • Motivate and inspire athletes to achieve their personal goals while fostering a team-oriented culture that emphasizes sportsmanship.

  • Collaborate with parents, athletes, school administration and Titcomb Mountain staff.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in competitive Nordic skiing, preferably at the collegiate or elite level.

  • Proven coaching experience with high school athletes.

  • Strong understanding of training principles, technique, and competitive strategy.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive team environment.

  • Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

  • NENSA and/or US Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) coaching certification preferred.

Valid CHRC

  

 

Working Schedule
 
Flexible after school and weekend hours required for scheduled races both home and away.
 
Travel Requirements
 
Travel to home and away races. Travel to conference, state, and individual competitions when athletes qualify. 

 

Reports To: Athletic Director

 

 

Terms of Employment:  As determined annually by the District.

 

 

Evaluation: Completed annually by the Athletic Director

 

 

FLSA Status: Exempt
